Watch MCBM Delta Tour – “Making Our Communities Livable Again”

Federal State and Local Partners Summit Bus Tour is to foster social, economic, and environmental justice throughout Mississippi. We were joined by HUD, USDA, Governmental Consultant, FEMA, and state partners.

Together, we envision our 88 cities with clean drinking water, safe roads and streets, thriving and healthy families, meaningful jobs for everyone, lively towns that remember local history and celebrate their stories, music, arts, and crafts, and people working together to make this vision a reality.

MCBM Delta Tour is a mobile Rural Action Plan that builds model sustainable development projects and encourages a broad civic conversation around MCBM 88 cities’ assets in order to create sustainable development paths for the state of Mississippi.

Introduction

Now in its 36th Year, the Mississippi Conference of Black Mayors continues to serve as a catalyst for bringing together mayors and municipal leaders, including state and federal officials, as well as leaders in the public and private sectors for the purpose of networking and obtaining information on the latest policies and strategies for municipal government. As a result of our position and impact, MCBM serves as a driving force for a positive change not only in the communities of our membership, but ultimately affecting the state of Mississippi, the nation and having an international presence.

As the only technical assistance and advocacy organization in Mississippi entirely dedicated to funding programs focus on improving the capacity of black mayors, cities, and towns, the Mississippi Conference of Black Mayors is committed to helping our membership achieve economic security. Our mission is critical, not just for Black Mayors in Mississippi but for everyone with a stake in the future of our state.

W.E.B. Du Bois once said, "As the South goes, so goes the nation." And today Mississippi stands at the crossroads of the South, with the largest body of elected black mayors in the nation, where the potential for progress is both greatest and most needed. We urge you to stand with us, as we continue to assist our membership in securing the vitality and sustainability of our communities. Walk with us, as we secure the future of our Sate and Country for generations to come! Thank you for joining us on our journey.

“We are practicing fair we are taking a stand no matter what has been done before us, we are focus on what we can change now, creating secure environments for the hungry and new opportunities for the down-and-out. We will restore old waste places of the past lives to build anew ,rebuilding the foundations from out of our past .We will be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate and make the community livable again. -Isaiah 58:9-12 Message Bible
